Saxonburg-based II-VI Inc. said Thursday its profit more than doubled in the fourth quarter to $15.98 million from $6.12 million a year ago.
The laser optics company acquired another laser optics maker, Photop Technologies Inc. of China, in January for $82 million, and the latest earnings report includes Photop's results.

LAST week I attended the ear, nose and throat department at the Royal Infirmary.
I was able to see the doctor nearly 20 minutes before my allotted time.
This was excellent for me, but the reason? Other patients not turning up for their appointments, but not informing the hospital.
